Installation

The plain bearings are installed by pressing them into a machined ‘H7’ housing.

Please note the following:

Create an insertion bevel, clean and deburr the part to be assembled
Lubricate the outer surface of the plain bearing before assembly
Check the axiality between the installation space and the centring axis of the plain bearing
If two plain bearings are required, they must be aligned
Use a fitting mandrel of the appropriate size

Assembly is carried out using hydraulic presses or mechanical machines.
The maximum resistance (F) is shown in the following table:

Belt thickness

1 mm: F = 300 N × L 1,5 mm: F = 500 N × L 2 mm: F = 700 N × L 2,5 mm: F = 900 N × L

For plain bearings with a diameter < 55 mm, we recommend using a mounting ring with a 0.3 - 0.4 mm larger diameter.

Testing and inspection

The method for checking the thickness of the plain bearing strip is to check the inner and outer diameter dimensions. Under no circumstances can the diameters be re-measured before pressing in the plain bearing, as this leads to inaccurate measurements. The ISO 3547 standard (replacement for DIN 1494) describes the applicable method for measuring the diameter.

The outside diameter, test A

The test equipment must conform to the ISO 3547 standard. The device consists of 2 shell halves into which the plain bearing is inserted and then clamped. During the test, pressure is applied to the shell halves from the outside and the extent to which the plain bearing yields is tested. If the deviation ‘Z’ is confirmed within a certain range, the outer diameter can be considered correct.

The inside diameter, test C

The plain bearing is pressed into a suitable bore with a diameter tolerance according to ‘H7’. After pressing in, the inside diameter can be checked using suitable measuring tools.
