Description Bimetal sliding bushings

Bimetal sliding bushing GETRO-800

The construction of the bi-metal sliding bushings GETRO-800 is based on steel with sintered CuPb10Sn10 or CuSn6Zn6Pb3 as surface sliding layer.

These GETRO-800 type products have the best characteristics within the bi-metal Plain bushings. They can be used in balancing suspensions of heavy commercial vehicles, wheels of bulldozers, car chassis, etc. sliding bushings ttv-800 are best suited for the medium speed range and for applications with high impact and shock forces.

Bimetal sliding bushing GETRO-720

The product variant GETRO-720 is a bi-metal sliding bushings with steel strip and sintered CuPb24Sn4 as surface sliding layer.

Due to high performance characteristics, long service life with low material fatigue and enormous load capacity, these bi-metal sliding bushings are particularly suitable for medium speeds and loads. sliding bushings GETRO-720 are therefore often used in the construction and agricultural machinery industry.

Bimetal sliding bushing GETRO-700

Bi-metal sliding bushings GETRO-700 are equipped with steel strip and sintered CuPb30 as surface sliding layer.

These bi-metal sliding bushings have good anti-blocking protection. Due to their high lead content, the sliding bushings GETRO-700 can bind more dirt particles and foreign matter and thus prevent seizure.

Bimetal sliding bushing GETRO-20

Sliding bushings GETRO-20 are based on tin and aluminium and are equipped with a steel strip and a surface sliding layer of AISn20Cu.

Sliding bushings GETRO-700 are equipped with steel strip and sintered CuPb30 as surface sliding layer.

These Sliding bushings are characterised by long service life, low material fatigue, high load capacity and low susceptibility to corrosion. Plain bushings GETRO-20 are therefore used in combinations of high speeds with low loads, such as in combustion engines, air compressors and cooling machines.

Bimetal sliding bushing GETRO-TF-1

The GETRO-TF-1 bi-metal sliding bushings are a further development of the GETRO-800 type, made of a black-lead alloy.

As a result, these bi-metal Plain bushings have improved friction properties. Shaft protection can be achieved without the use of oil, as black lead dissolves when used without oil under high temperatures. Predominantly, these bi-metal Plain bushings are used in guides of lifting equipment, lifts and similar applications.

Frequently asked questions

What applications are bi-metal plain bearings suitable for?

Bi-metal plain bearings from TTV are ideal for applications where
  • high loads
  • high impact forces
  • or difficult operating conditions

occur.

GETRO-800

  • The bi-metal plain bearing for medium speeds and high impact forces
  • e.g., balancing suspensions of commercial vehicles, on bulldozer wheels, or in the chassis area

GETRO-720

  • A bi-metal plain bearing for medium speeds and heavy loads
  • e.g. construction and agricultural machinery, e.g. in chassis parts, joints or lifting arms

GETRO-700

  • This bi-metal plain bearing is suitable for operating conditions with high levels of contamination
  • Protects against seizing thanks to its good capacity to absorb foreign bodies
  • e.g. for unprotected joints or bearings in dusty environments

GETRO-20

  • A bi-metal plain bearing for high speeds and low loads
  • e.g. in combustion engines, air compressors or refrigeration machines

GETRO-TF-1

  • This bimetal plain bearing can withstand temperatures up to +300°C
  • No lubrication necessary thanks to black-based sliding layer with graphite content
  • E.g. for guides in lifting equipment, elevators, and similar applications with thermal stress
  •

What temperatures can bimetal plain bearings withstand?

Depending on the bearing type, TTV bi-metal plain bearings are designed for operating temperatures of up to +150°C, +170°C, +260°C, or even +300°C. This makes them suitable for both normal machine environments and highly heated or critical locations, e.g., in elevators, motors, or vehicle suspensions.

Temperature limits of our bimetal plain bearings:

  • GETRO-20 are suitable for applications up to +150 °C
    e.g., compressors, refrigerators, and motors.
  • GETRO-700 and GETRO-720 are suitable for most applications with moderate heating up to +170 °C
e.g. construction and agricultural machinery, spherical bearings, or heavily stressed components.
  • GETRO-800 is the first choice for constantly high temperatures up to +260 °C in combination with shock and impact loads
e.g. in commercial vehicle suspension or in automotive engineering
  • GETRO-TF-1 is suitable for applications at high temperatures up to +300 °C where there is little or no oil. Thanks to the black lead alloy, this bimetal plain bearing also works without lubrication.
e.g. for lifting systems, elevators, and oil-free use under heat

ttv tip:

If your bimetal plain bearing is permanently exposed to temperatures above 200°C, we recommend GETRO-800 or GETRO-TF-1. These types can withstand high temperatures even in continuous operation without becoming brittle or losing their sliding properties.

Which bimetal plain bearing for harsh and dirty environments?

The GETRO-700 bimetal plain bearing in particular prevents seizing, as the sliding layer contains a particularly high proportion of lead. This binds foreign particles and prevents dirt from settling between the shaft and the bearing surface.

How the lead alloy of the GETRO-700 bi-metal plain bearing works:

  • The soft material lead absorbs particles that penetrate the bearing, e.g., due to a dusty environment or insufficient sealing.
  • The metallic contact is dampened by the soft sliding layer material.
  • Especially in construction or agricultural machinery, where bearings often only operate intermittently, this flexible lead sliding layer also helps to facilitate starting.

Bi-metal plain bearings with lead content are therefore particularly suitable for:

  • Bearing points without perfect sealing
  • Designs with high dust or dirt exposure
  • Machines used outdoors, for example in construction and agriculture

What types of profiles and designs are available for bimetal plain bearings at ttv?

At ttv, you can obtain bimetal plain bearings in the following profile types and designs:

Cylinder

  • For rotating and swiveling movements
  • This bimetal plain bearing saves installation space in the housing
  • Easy to press in and replace
  • Ideal for gearboxes, hydraulic pumps, and electric motors

Flange bushings

  • With fixed flange for axial guidance
  • Prevents the bimetal plain bearing from moving in the housing
  • Reduces components, as additional safety devices are not required
  • Proven in agricultural machinery, construction machinery, and presses

Thrust washers

  • Absorbs axial forces when the installation space does not allow for a collar
  • Protects the housing surfaces of the bimetal plain bearing from friction
  • Can be used flexibly between the bearing and the housing
  • Suitable for conveyor technology, bearing points in drives or machine tools
