Requirements in the pharmaceutical industry

Across various applications within pharmaceutical production environments, the challenge lay in designing sealing and plain bearing solutions for sensitive processes subject to the most stringent hygienic and
regulatory requirements. The components used had to be permanently resistant to cleaning agents, hot steam sterilisation, and fluctuating temperatures and pressure conditions. At the same time, the focus was on high process reliability, minimal particle formation and long-term plant availability.

The solution:

Media and application-specific designs

ttv did not consider the requirements in isolation for individual components, but in relation to the entire production process. The design of the sealing and plain bearing technology was therefore tailored to the specific media, temperatures and applications, taking into account the respective cleaning and sterilisation processes.

Among other things, FDA-compliant elastomers, PTFE-based materials and high-purity material combinations for sensitive pharmaceutical applications were used.

Plain bearing technology for low-maintenance motion sequences

Application-specific solutions have also been integrated into the field of plain bearing technology. Maintenance-free and media-resistant plain bearings have been used for guidance, conveyor and motion systems within the production facilities.

This has ensured low-wear motion sequences, high resistance to cleaning and long-term stable plant performance.

 

Sonderanfertigung mit getesteter Performance 

In enger Abstimmung zwischen dem Vertriebsteam von VALVOtec und den technischen Ansprechpartnern bei ttv wurden mehrere Prototypen entwickelt, getestet und optimiert. Die Ergebnisse überzeugten: Während die herkömmliche Dichtung durchschnittlich 20.000 Brühzyklen erreichte, hält die ttv-Sonderlösung bis zu 40.000 Zyklen durch – eine Verdopplung der Standzeit und ein klarer Wettbewerbsvorteil für VALVOtec.

Mechanical seals for sterile processes

Specially designed mechanical seals were used in rotating applications such as pump systems, mixers and agitators, as well as process plants.

The focus was on hygienic designs offering high cleanability and minimal dead spaces. At the same time, the systems had to withstand the stresses of CIP and SIP processes over the long term and ensure a reliable seal for sensitive media.

O-rings for sensitive production environments

In addition, specialised O-rings were used in valve systems, pipe connections, clamp applications and dosing systems. Particular attention was paid to low particle generation, high media resistance and materials compliant with FDA and USP Class VI standards, in order to ensure long-term compliance with the high requirements of validated production environments.
