Conventional bearing solutions often reach their limits under real operating conditions. High dynamic and impact loads, as well as abrasive influences, lead to increased wear and reduced
service life.

A solution that works is not achieved through standard components, but through precise adaptation to the application.
LUMET plain bearings have been specifically designed for real-world operating conditions. Materials used include brass and special alloys, which ensure high load-bearing capacity and stable friction behaviour. The geometry has been optimised to distribute loads evenly and reduce local stresses.
Depending on the application, the design is tailored for dry-running or boundary-lubricated conditions. Integrated solid lubricants are available as an option. Crucial factors include the precise coordination of tolerances and fits, as well as strict compliance with rail-specific standards and safety requirements.
The project was implemented in close coordination with the international sites, from the initial analysis through the validation phases to series production approval. ttv was responsible not only for the technical design of the plain bearings, but also for coordinating between the application, engineering and production departments. At the same time, supply reliability was ensured across multiple sites.
This exemplifies the ‘Beyond Supply’ approach. The focus is not merely on the provision of components, but on the combination of application-specific design, a global production strategy and a secure supply chain.
Sonderanfertigung mit getesteter Performance
In enger Abstimmung zwischen dem Vertriebsteam von VALVOtec und den technischen Ansprechpartnern bei ttv wurden mehrere Prototypen entwickelt, getestet und optimiert. Die Ergebnisse überzeugten: Während die herkömmliche Dichtung durchschnittlich 20.000 Brühzyklen erreichte, hält die ttv-Sonderlösung bis zu 40.000 Zyklen durch – eine Verdopplung der Standzeit und ein klarer Wettbewerbsvorteil für VALVOtec.

The results demonstrate clearly measurable effects. Service life has been significantly extended and wear reduced. At the same time, maintenance intervals have been lengthened, leading to greater operational reliability.
For the operator, this means increased system availability coupled with a sustained reduction in operating costs.

The project demonstrates that the performance of plain bearing solutions depends significantly on the precise coordination of all influencing factors.
